Why is it called a cockpit anyway?
I don’t know, but I suppose it’s due to a discrepancy– like some idiots call a control stick a joystick. Why? Beats the hell out of me. That’s just terminology, like “the right stuff” and that crap. The movie industry hasn’t helped a hell of a lot either. Like Top Gun with Tom Cruise. The guys they portrayed in that goddamn movie would last about two seconds in a real war. It was good entertainment and that’s all. It’s not a training film, that’s for damn sure. You know, in every damn movie they make, whether it’s flying or a Western or anything else, there’s always some good-looking little gal in the background they dangle in front of people.
